Mosaic tile cutting tools
To cut tiles to size, there are several mosaic tile cutting tools you can use. What tool you will need can depend on the tile size, the amount of mosaic tiles you want to cut and the material of the tile. We have listed commonly used mosaic tile cutting tools below.
Tile cutter – a hand tool often used to cut ceramic tiles. The tile is placed in the cutter and then pressure is applied with a lever to break the tile along a pre-shaped line.
Diamond saw – a power tool equipped with a diamond blade that cuts through the tile. Diamond saws are more precise than tile cutters and can be used to cut mosaic tiles of different sizes and thicknesses.
A water-cooled diamond saw is required to cut the Valencia collection to size.
Glass cutter – a hand tool designed to cut glass tiles to size. The glass cutter’s diamond tip is pulled across the surface of the tile to create a cutting line.
Tile pliers – a hand tool used to break or cut small pieces of tile. Tile pliers are useful when creating mosaic designs that require small, irregular pieces.
Dremel – a rotary tool with a range of cutting and grinding heads that can be used to cut and shape mosaic tiles.
Besides the mosaic tile cutting tools for cutting and sawing, you will need a pencil or marker to make the marks, protective clothing, safety glasses and, if sawing, hearing protection.
