How to grout mosaic tiles
How to grout mosaic tiles is an important part of the installation process. Grouting tiles correctly is just as important as laying the tiles themselves. We always advise you to hire a trusted professional to lay and grout the mosaic tiles. However, if you want to grout the mosaic tiles yourself, here are the supplies and steps to succesful grouting.
Supplies:
- Grout mortar
- Grout (rubber) float or board
- Spatula
- Bucket
- Sponge
- Water
Now you have all the necessary supplies to start grout mosaic tiles. Follow the steps below.
- Prepare the grout according to the instructions on the packaging.
- Apply a small amount of grout to the grouting float board by using the spatula.
- Use a grout rubber to apply the grout to the tiles. Smooth the grout diagonally across the surface to fill the joints evenly. Grout the entire surface in this way.
- Check that all joints are properly filled with the grout. Make sure there are no air bubbles, gaps or impurities anywhere.
- Use a wet sponge to remove excess grout from the tiles before it dries.
- Let the grout dry according to the packaging.
- Fill a bucket with water and use a wet sponge to clean the tiles and remove excess grout.
- Repeat step 7 until the tiles are completely clean.
Note – If you choose natural stone mosaics, you may need to use a special grout suitable for natural stone. For more information, contact a professional tiler.
